How to Get TikTok Live Views in Canada: A Practical Guide
A practical guide to bringing more viewers into your TikTok LIVE from Canada: eligibility, timing across Canadian time zones, discovery features, collabs, gifts and ranking.

Going live on TikTok from Canada comes with a problem most advice online skips: your audience is spread across six time zones, so a stream that starts at a good hour in Toronto starts in the middle of the afternoon in Vancouver. This guide covers how to bring more people into your TikTok LIVE from a Canadian angle. If this is your very first stream, start with our TikTok LIVE first-stream checklist for setup and a running order; this guide picks up from there.
What "LIVE views" means on TikTok
Two numbers matter. The viewer count in the corner shows how many people are watching right now. After the stream, LIVE analytics show totals for the session, such as viewers, time watched, new followers and gifts. Viewers come and go, so a modest count at any one moment can still add up over an hour. More live views means both: more people joining, and more of them staying.
Check that your account can go LIVE
TikTok only offers LIVE to accounts that meet its requirements. The commonly documented ones are:
- Age. You must be at least 18 to host a LIVE. Sending and receiving LIVE Gifts also requires you to be 18 or older.
- Followers. TikTok has long asked for a minimum follower count before the LIVE option appears, commonly 1,000 followers. The threshold has varied by region and over time, so check TikTok's help centre for the rule that applies to your account today.
- Account standing. Accounts with recent Community Guidelines violations can lose access to LIVE for a period.
To check, tap the plus button and look through the options along the bottom of the camera screen. If LIVE is not there, keep posting short videos for now. Our TikTok playbook for Canada covers that stage.
Pick a start time that works across Canadian time zones
Canada has six time zones, and a large share of Canadians live in either Eastern time (Ontario and most of Quebec) or Pacific time (British Columbia). Here is what three Eastern start times look like across the country:
| Time zone | 7 pm ET | 8:30 pm ET | 10 pm ET |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pacific (Vancouver) | 4:00 pm | 5:30 pm | 7:00 pm |
| Mountain (Calgary) | 5:00 pm | 6:30 pm | 8:00 pm |
| Central (Winnipeg) | 6:00 pm | 7:30 pm | 9:00 pm |
| Eastern (Toronto) | 7:00 pm | 8:30 pm | 10:00 pm |
| Atlantic (Halifax) | 8:00 pm | 9:30 pm | 11:00 pm |
| Newfoundland (St. John's) | 8:30 pm | 10:00 pm | 11:30 pm |
Most of Saskatchewan stays on Central Standard Time all year, so in summer it lines up with Calgary rather than Winnipeg.
Decide whose evening matters most. If most of your followers are in Ontario and Quebec, an Eastern evening start is a sensible default. If your audience is mainly in B.C. and Alberta, a Pacific evening start still reaches the East before most people go to bed. To find out where your followers actually are and when they are on the app, open the Followers section of your TikTok analytics. Our guides on reading TikTok analytics and the best time to post in Canada go into more detail. Whatever you choose, always write the time zone when you announce a stream, for example "Thursday 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT".
Work with the Canadian calendar
Long weekends such as Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day and Thanksgiving in October change when people are home and on their phones. A big hockey night can pull your audience away, or give you a topic if your niche fits. If you have followers in Quebec, a bilingual title or a few words in French can make them feel welcome; our guide to bilingual posting for Quebec has practical tips.
Use TikTok's own discovery features
Most new viewers find a stream inside the app itself.
The LIVE feed and previews
People can browse streams in the app's LIVE section, and streams can also show up as previews while people scroll. A viewer decides in a moment whether to tap in, so keep something happening on screen: your face in good light, a product in your hands, a question on a card.
Notifications, your profile and LIVE Events
Followers can be notified when you go live, depending on their settings, and while you are live your profile picture shows a LIVE ring that people can tap to join. Where it is available, the LIVE Events feature lets you schedule a stream in advance so viewers can sign up for a reminder. Create the event a few days ahead and mention it in your videos.
A teaser video and a clear title
Post a short video a few hours before the stream that says what you will do and when, with the time zone. Then give the stream itself a specific title. "Packing winter orders, ask me about sizing" tells a passing viewer more than "Come hang out". If the app asks you to pick a topic or category, choose the closest match.
Go LIVE on a regular schedule
When followers know you are live every Tuesday at 8 pm ET, they can plan for it, and you stop starting from zero each time. Weekly is enough for most creators and small businesses. Plan for at least 30 minutes, because viewers trickle in over the first part of a stream. Keep a recurring segment, such as a Q&A at the half-hour mark, and end every stream by announcing the next one.
Collabs and multi-guest streams
TikTok's multi-guest and co-hosting features let you bring other creators into your stream, and you can join theirs. When two hosts share a stream, each host's audience meets the other. Look for a creator of similar size in a related niche: a Halifax baker and a local coffee roaster, or two Calgary fitness coaches with different specialties. Agree on the topic, the start time in both time zones, who hosts, and how long it runs. If either of you is paid or gets free products for the collab, disclose it the way Canada's advertising standards expect.
Gifts and rewards, as TikTok defines them
During a LIVE, viewers can buy Coins and send virtual Gifts. Creators who meet TikTok's eligibility requirements can collect Diamonds from those Gifts and, under TikTok's terms, may be able to redeem them for rewards. The details and eligibility rules change, so read TikTok's own LIVE monetization pages rather than screenshots shared online. Gifts are not views; they are a separate interaction. Thank people for Gifts briefly and get back to the content. TikTok's LIVE guidelines also cover how hosts may ask for Gifts, so read them before you build a stream around gifting.
What is likely to affect how TikTok ranks a LIVE
TikTok does not publish how it ranks streams in the LIVE feed. For LIVE, the signals that are likely to matter are:
- How long people stay after they join.
- Interaction: comments, likes, shares, follows during the stream and Gifts.
- Stream quality: a stable connection, clear audio and enough light.
- Following the rules: streams that break the Community Guidelines can be cut off or kept out of recommendations, and TikTok expects a LIVE to be live, not a loop of recorded video or a static screen.
In practice, greet new viewers by name, ask questions they can answer in one word, pin a comment that explains what the stream is about, and repeat that context every few minutes for people who just arrived. Avoid long silences.
Where a live views package fits
Some creators add a small package of TikTok live views so a new stream does not start from zero. It is about how the viewer count looks during the stream, nothing more: it does not add comments, Gifts, follows or sales, and it does not replace the habits above. Viewers are sent while the stream is running, so you need to be live when the order is processed; delivery timing varies by package. We only need your public username or stream link, never your password, and you pay by card through a secure checkout in USD. For the profile itself we also offer TikTok followers packages, with the same limits: they shape a first impression and do not replace regular videos. If you would rather not pay, our free TikTok LIVE viewers page collects the organic options in one place, and the TikTok hub lists everything else.
